HISTORIC LINE sales cart
A use case from the heart of the Baltic Sea resorts

ROKA, Germany's market leader for mobile catering systems, is launching the Historic Linevending carts in collaboration with Germany's last winery , and Pier 14 on the Baltic Sea provides a glimpse of where they will be used. Pier 14 is an owner-managed company that plays a major role in shaping the hustle and bustle of the pier at Heringsdorf on the island of Usedom. The company owns fashion stores, trendy and star restaurants, a wine bar and also two mobile vending carts for summer cocktails on the beach or winter baked apple mulled wine in front of the stores. And it is precisely for this mobile gastronomy that the owners Stefan Richter and Jana and Gert Griehl have opted for the Historic Line. Their sales van is used in a variety of ways and is one of the most profitable branches of their wide-ranging business.

"But it's not just in their function as customer magnets that the historic-looking sales carts perform reliably - they also fit in perfectly with the beautiful spa architecture of the region. We get compliments from guests on our carts every day, photos are taken and requests for events come in. Just like our stationary stores, the Historic Line gives us a wonderful nod to old architecture without sacrificing state-of-the-art equipment and functionality," reports Stefan Richter, Managing Director at Pier 14.

The owners around Pier 14 had still commissioned their Historic Line sales wagon, which ROKA has been distributing in the DACH region since this year, from the great-grandson of the founder of the winery founded in 1919, Achim Brohm. The art of wheel and carriage making is a well-kept secret that has been passed down from generation to generation in rural wineries. Today, the craft is all but extinct. Only a few still possess the ancient knowledge. Achim Brohm was one of the last of his profession.

ROKA and the wagon maker

It was also Stefan Richter of Pier 14 who informed Volker Beck, managing director of ROKA, of Achim Brohm's sudden passing. Beck then went into action with the intention of ensuring the continued existence of the wainwright's workshop. This has now been done with an exclusive partnership with Brohm's successors, who have been trained and are taking over. "I was very pleased to hear that the Wagnerei will continue and that there is a closing of ranks between the two craft luminaries in the mobile catering industry. I am convinced that the symbiosis of ROKA and the Wagnerei will produce an even higher-quality product," Richter says.

ROKA Werk GmbH in Merenberg, Hesse, is located not far from Odenwälder Manufaktur and they quickly got together with the common goal of further marketing the historic sales wagons. Curved roofs like those of the milk trucks at the turn of the century, traditionally crafted wooden wheels with solid rubber sheathing and numerous loving vintage details are complemented by perfectly adapted and uncompromisingly high-quality catering technology, in which ROKA has specialized in over 60 years of company history.

Volker Beck from ROKA about the Historic Line: "We are proud to offer especially aesthetic, but also functional solutions for special environments or to create special environments. These trolleys offer discerning restaurateurs a way to create a special atmosphere. The Historic Line works from the shopping mall, to the winery, to the hotel industry or simply as a skillful style break. The great commercial success of the trolleys at Pier 14 shows the added value mobile hospitality can create."
