HISTORIC LINE sales trolley
A use case from the heart of the Baltic seaside resorts
ROKA, Germany's market leader for mobile catering systems, launches the Historic Linevending trolleys in collaboration with the last winery in Germany and gives an insight into the locations with Pier 14 on the Baltic Sea. Pier 14 is an owner-managed company that plays a key role in shaping the hustle and bustle on the Heringsdorf pier on the island of Usedom. The company includes fashion stores, trendy and Michelin-starred restaurants, a wine bar and two mobile vending carts for enjoying cocktails on the beach in summer or mulled wine with baked apples in front of the stores in winter. And it was for this mobile catering service that owners Stefan Richter and Jana and Gert Griehl opted for the Historic Line. Their vending trolley is used in a variety of ways and is one of the most profitable branches of their wide-ranging business.
"But the historic-looking sales trolleys not only perform reliably in their function as a customer magnet - they also fit perfectly into the beautiful spa architecture of the region. Every day we receive compliments from guests about our trolleys, photos are taken and requests for events come in. Just like in our stationary stores, the Historic Line gives us a wonderful nod to old architecture without having to compromise on state-of-the-art equipment and functionality," reports Stefan Richter, Managing Director of Pier 14.
The owners around Pier 14 had commissioned their Historic Line sales trolley, which has been distributed by ROKA in the DACH region since this year, from the great-grandson of the founder of the wainwright's workshop founded in 1919, Achim Brohm. The art of wheel and trolley building is a well-kept secret that has been passed down from generation to generation in rural wainwrights' workshops. Today, the craft is as good as extinct. There are only a few who still possess the old knowledge. Achim Brohm was one of the last of his profession.
ROKA and the wagon maker
It was also Stefan Richter from Pier 14 who informed Volker Beck, Managing Director of ROKA, of Achim Brohm's sudden death. Beck then went into action with the intention of securing the continued existence of the Wagnerei. This has now been achieved with an exclusive partnership with the successors trained and taken over by Brohm. "I was delighted to hear that the Wagnerei will continue and that there is a partnership between the two luminaries of the mobile catering trade. I am convinced that the symbiosis of ROKA and Wagnerei will result in an even higher quality product," says Richter.
ROKA Werk GmbH in Merenberg, Hesse, is not far from Odenwälder Manufaktur and the two companies quickly came together with the common goal of continuing to market the historic sales trolleys. Curved roofs like those of the milk floats at the turn of the century, traditionally manufactured wooden wheels with solid rubber coating and numerous loving vintage details are complemented by perfectly adapted and uncompromisingly high-quality catering technology, in which ROKA has specialized in over 60 years of company history.
Volker Beck from ROKA on the Historic Line: "We pride ourselves on offering particularly aesthetic, but also functional solutions for special environments or to create special environments. These trolleys offer discerning restaurateurs a way to create a special atmosphere. The Historic Line can be used in shopping malls, wineries, hotels or simply as a skillful break in style. The great commercial success of the trolleys at Pier 14 shows the added value that mobile gastronomy can create."
